Entrants & clubs

Teams, individuals and pairs

A division registers one kind of entrant — pick the one that matches who plays a fixture.

Every division registers entrants in one of three shapes — pick the one that matches who plays a fixture:

  • Teams — a named side plays each fixture (football, cricket, quiz nights). Teams can carry squads of players for lineups and player stats.
  • Individuals — one person per side (singles badminton, chess, darts). An individual entrant holds exactly one person.
  • Pairs — a fixed duo per side (doubles). A pair holds exactly two people; it enters together and stays together for the whole division.

Choosing

Ask: who is named on a fixture? If the answer is "Riverside Rockets", it's teams — even if you also track which players appeared. If it's "Asha & Ben", it's a pair.

Sport defaults and overrides

The sport sets the starting shape, so most divisions need no thought here:

  • Board games (chess, draughts, go) — one player per side.
  • Tennis, badminton, table tennis, carrom — a player or a pair, so singles and doubles can live in the same division.
  • Football, cricket, hockey, ice hockey, volleyball — a squad, with shirt numbers and a captain.

To change the shape for one division, open its Settings → Entrants. You can widen the kinds it accepts, or turn squad numbers and the captain marker on or off. These are entrant settings, not format — they stay editable after fixtures exist, so you can open a division up to teams mid-season. The one guard: you can't remove a kind while an entrant of that kind is still registered — withdraw it first.

Clubs (Pro)

Clubs group teams across divisions — "Riverside CC" can field a team in three divisions and share one badge. Club badges cascade to teams automatically; a team can override with its own.

Common questions

Can one division take both singles and pairs? For sports that allow it (tennis, carrom) — yes. Most sports fix a single shape; check Settings → Entrants to see or change what a division accepts.
