What downgrading freezes

Cancel Pro and your org returns to Community limits. The rule is simple: nothing is deleted, ever.

A failed renewal has a grace period

If a renewal payment fails, nothing changes straight away. Stripe retries the card for 14 days (this is called dunning) and your org stays on Pro the whole time — so a lapsed card or a bank blip never yanks features mid-tournament. Only if those 14 days pass with no successful payment does the org fall back to Community limits, and the moment a payment does go through, Pro is restored immediately. Update your card under Settings → Plan & Billing to clear it sooner.

The freeze

Anything over a Community limit becomes read-only: your most recently active competitions stay fully editable up to the limit; the rest freeze. A frozen competition's dashboards, standings and history all remain visible — you just can't change it until there's room.

Making room

• Archive or complete competitions until you're inside the limits — frozen ones thaw automatically.
• Or upgrade again; everything unfreezes instantly.

Pro-only features (your brand colour, branded exports, sponsor tiers and packages, API keys…) simply switch off rather than freezing anything — public pages fall back to the standard look with your logo still on it, exports come out as plain tables, keys stop authenticating.

Entry fees keep running — the fee rate changes

One thing that does not switch off: card entry fees keep working on Community. Your Stripe connection stays linked, existing paid entries are untouched, and divisions collecting Card at sign-up keep taking new registrations exactly as before — a downgrade never closes a register panel for money reasons.

What changes is the platform fee, for a competition that never took a paid card entry: on Community that's 8%, where Pro is 2% and Pro Plus 1%. See the fee ladder.

A competition that has already taken a paid card entry keeps that platform fee locked at the rate it was first charged, for every entry after it, whatever your plan does next — including a downgrade to Community. A competition that takes its first paid entry while covered by an Event Pass locks in the pass's 5% rate the same way, and keeps it after the downgrade along with everything else the pass grants — bigger limits, branded exports, sponsor tiers and packages — while the rest of the org sits on Community.

Moving to a cheaper plan gives you credit, not a bill

Stepping down from Pro Plus to Pro (rather than cancelling to Community) is a plan change, so it's prorated: the time you'd already paid for on the pricier plan comes back as account credit that pays your next invoices automatically — the confirm step shows "No charge today" and the credit added, never a fresh charge. Common questions

Do frozen results disappear from public pages? No — read-only means the record stands; visitors notice nothing.
